Dr. Kecskemety is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Engineering Education. Dr. Kecskemety received her B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from The Ohio State University. Her engineering education research interests focus on investigating first-year engineering student experiences, including programming education and the entreprenuerial mindset. She is also interested in instructional team experiences and training and the connection they have to the student experience.
EED Ph.D. Student Drew Phillips
Drew is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Engineering Education. He earned his B.S. and M.S. from OSU in Electrical and Computer Engineering conducting research in the field of integrated nonlinear optics. His engineering education research interests include teaching assistants, first-year engineering, personality type theory, systematic literature reviews, and quantitative analysis methods. Drew also serves as a Graduate Teaching Associate for the Fundamentals of Engineering for Honors program.
Tyler MilburnEED Ph.D. Student
Tyler is a graduate student in the Engineering Education Ph.D. program. He is currently working as a Graduate Teaching Associate for the first-year engineering program at Ohio State University. He has both his B.S. and M.S. from Ohio State in Electrical Engineering. His research interests include first-generation college students and their choice of engineering major.
Laine Rumreich is a Master's student studying Computer Science and Engineering. She has been on the FYRE team since 2018 and is currently working on projects related to KEEN. She is currently working on her Master's thesis on the formal verification of an implementation of a binary decision diagram. Outside of academics, Laine enjoys playing golf and reading.
CSE Ph.D. Student Ada Barach
Ada is a PhD student in the Computer Science & Engineering Department and has been with FYRE since February 2019. She has worked on the creation and validation of a MATLAB programming assessment for use in first-year engineering courses. Ada is from Cincinnati, OH and graduated with an Honors Computer Science & Engineering degree with an Honors Mathematics minor in May 2020. Outside of class, she plays viola in the Ohio State University Community Orchestra and enjoys walking dogs.
Undergraduate Research Assistant Nick Sattele
Nick is an Undergraduate Research Associate with The Ohio State Department of Engineering Education. He is in the process of completing a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering in the Integrated Business and Engineering Honors Program at Ohio State. His interests include incorporating Entrepreneurial Minded Learning into engineering coursework and interdisciplinary innovation.
Undergraduate Research Assistant Josephine Fabea
Josephine is a senior pursuing a B.S in Civil Engineering. After graduation, she plans to pursue an M.S. in water resources. She is a Ghanaian and recently joined the undergraduate research with The Ohio State Department of Engineering Education. Outside school, she is involved in serving at food pantry, and enjoys singing.
Undergraduate Research Assistant Sery Gunawardena
Sery is an undergraduate researcher and started with FYRE in August of 2019. She previously worked to develop a MATLAB program assessment for first-year engineering courses. Sery is from Athens, Ohio and currently resides in Dayton, Ohio. She is pursuing a Computer Science & Engineering degree with a Psychology minor on a Pre-Law track. She is a Teaching Assistant for the Honors Fundamentals of Engineering Program. Outside of class, Sery likes calligraphy and playing the piano.
Undergraduate Research Assistant Connor Jenkins
Connor is an Undergraduate Researcher in the Department of Engineering Education at The Ohio State University. He is currently pursuing an Honors B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and expects to graduate in May 2022 with Honors Research Distinction. Connor is also an Undergraduate Teaching Associate within the Department of Engineering Education. Outside of academia, his interests include competitive running, playing music, and reading.

Faith is an undergraduate researcher and has been with FYRE since August 2019. She is pursuing STEM Education and Mathematics degrees. She is a tutor with the Ohio State University’s Mathematics and Statistics Learning Center. Outside of class, Faith is involved in Pets for Heroes and volunteers with Colony Cats and Dogs.

Cassie Wallwey is a graduate teaching associate for the FEH course and a graduate research associate on the Pathways Project at Ohio State University. Cassie earned her B.S. and M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Cassie has had 5 years of experience as a teaching assistant for various engineering courses at multiple levels, and is enjoying her time researching and teaching at Ohio State. Her primary research interest include feedback in engineering classrooms and engineering student motivation. Cassie worked on the KEEN project for FYRE during the Summer 2020 term.
Zachary DixUndergraduate Research Assistant
Zach was an undergraduate research assistant for the Engineering Education Department. He was a member of FYRE from December 2017-June 2020 and worked on both the software design project and on the entrepreneurial mindset project. Zach is a civil engineering major who enjoys ultimate frisbee, golf, and running.

Kathrine was an undergraduate researcher in FYRE from 2017 until late 2018. She earned a bachelors degree in Chemistry from Ohio State in 2020.
Ben was an undergraduate researcher on the FYRE team in 2018 and has since earned a degree in Aerospace Engineering. He researched the Software Design Project and presented at FIE 2018.
